You need it? Michigan’s got it.
Elliott Rouse has been at the University of Michigan for a hot minute and already there is a prosthetic leg with a robotic knee and ankle, replete with the blue and maize Michigan logo.
But Michigan isn’t keeping this leg all to itself. It’s open source.
Which means this team has created an inexpensive and capable platform ANY researcher can use so they don’t have to develop their own hardware, eliminating barriers of entry like time and money.
Rouse discusses the design of the leg, the software interface, and the project’s timeline in this Robohub Podcast.
